Meet The Teachers

Hi there! I'm Kyla, the founder of Traditional Bachata Nashville.

For the last several years, I've been traveling back and forth to the Dominican Republic, learning from the people who live this dance every day. Through that experience, I completely fell in love with traditional bachata, not just the movement itself, but the culture, the music, and the way it brings people together.

After bringing more than 100 people to the Dominican Republic through my retreats, I realized I wanted to create that same feeling of connection here in Nashville.

Traditional Bachata Nashville was born from that vision. I wanted a place where people could learn bachata in a way that feels rooted, welcoming, joyful, and human. A place where beginners feel comfortable, experienced dancers keep growing, and community is just as important as technique.

While you'll still find me teaching classes, Running Teteo, organizing events, and probably chatting with everyone in the room, one of my greatest joys has become mentoring the next generation of TBN teachers. I chose these dancers to train because of their ability to play on the dance floor, welcoming spirit, and their love for DR.

Our instructors are still in training, but they've already poured countless hours into studying traditional bachata foundations, musicality, cultural context, pedagogy, and community care. I couldn't be more excited for you to learn alongside them as we continue growing this community together.

Thanks for being here. It truly means the world.
