Meet The Teachers

Hi there! I’m Kyla, the owner and creator of Traditional Bachata Nashville.

For the past several years, I have been traveling to the Dominican Republic again and again, studying the magic of traditional bachata, learning from the people who live it, and being shaped by the culture of Hispaniola. Through my retreats, I have brought more than one hundred people to the island to experience its music, community, and joy firsthand.

At some point, it became clear that Nashville needed a space like this too. A place where people could learn traditional bachata in a way that felt accessible, rooted, joyful, and human.

Dance has been home for me for a very long time. Recently, I felt the call to fully commit to my embodiment and somatic work, but I knew I could not leave the dance world without creating something that could hold the pieces of what I love. Traditional Bachata Nashville became that space. A place where my years of teaching, my connection to the island, my pedagogy, and my love for community could live on in a grounded, intentional way.

TBN was created to share my decade of experience in a way that supports talented community members as they grow into thoughtful and skillful teachers. My goal is to build a clear and encouraging path for dancers to develop their voice, deepen their foundations, and teach with respect and care.

I will still be here behind the scenes and occasionally in the classroom, but this project is also about uplifting new voices. Our instructors have been training extensively in traditional bachata foundations, musicality, cultural context, pedagogy, energy management, and community care. They are committed, heart centered humans who care deeply about creating a warm and welcoming space for you.

I am so excited for you to meet them and to experience the magic they are already bringing into this community.

  • Qué lo que, this is Sabré.
I have loved to dance since I was little, dancing in the house with my grandma Mama Tina and the rest of my family. The dances that have my heart are Traditional Bachata, Casíno, and Cumbia.

I came to TBN after falling in love with traditional bachata and the culture during Tu Pasito with Kyla. The playfulness of this dance found a permanent place in my heart that week.

I am excited to share my love for Latin dance, and I hope that everyone who comes to TBN finds their own joy here, whether it is through the dance itself or through the community that surrounds it.

  • Hi, I am Lucia.
What brought me to Traditional Bachata Nashville is the creative freedom this dance gives you. There is something so beautiful about being completely yourself while also connecting deeply with another person. I love that traditional bachata creates these small three minute moments where you get to be fully present with someone, moving together with curiosity, intention, and joy.

I hope that when you walk through our doors, you feel that same spark. A space to breathe, to play, and to discover how good it feels to be seen, supported, and met right where you are.

Welcome. I cannot wait to share the dance floor with you.

  • Ciao! My name is Michelle!

I have been moving to music since I could walk, and years later I took my first Latin dance class and everything opened up. Whether I am dancing alone, sharing a connection with another person, or moving together in a group, dance has always been part of my journey. That journey has brought me here to Traditional Bachata Nashville.

Here, we will learn more than steps. I believe you will grow in ways that go far beyond dance skills. You will connect, explore, and discover new parts of yourself through the music and the community.

Welcome. Come exactly as you are. I am ecstatic you are here and I cannot wait to share this journey with you.
